Terms of use

These terms cover HW DESIGNS LLC’s websites (hwdesigns.us and docs.hwdesigns.us), our products, and the Review Tap Sign service. By using them you agree to these terms.

1. Buying our products

  • We sell through stores such as Amazon and Crowd Supply. Prices, payment, shipping, returns and refunds follow the terms of the store where you buy.
  • Product details on our websites are for information and can change. The store listing at the time you buy is the final description of what you get.

2. Using our products safely

  • Follow the instructions and cautions on the packaging, the insert and our documentation.
  • Pet products are feeding and travel gear, not chew toys. Supervise your pet, inspect the product before each use, and replace it if it is damaged.
  • Development boards are tools for building and testing electronics. Handle lithium batteries with care, and do not use the boards in medical, life-support, vehicle or other safety-critical equipment.

3. Our websites and documentation

  • We work to keep our guides, specifications and test reports accurate, but they are provided for information and may contain mistakes or change.
  • Some files we publish, such as example code, schematics and guides, come with an open-source license stated in or next to the file. Where a license is stated, it applies to that file.
  • Everything else on our websites (text, photos, logos and design) belongs to HW DESIGNS LLC. Please ask before reusing it.

4. Trademarks

HW DESIGNS, the HW Designs logo and the “For pets who go places” logo are trademarks of HW DESIGNS LLC. Other names, such as Amazon, Crowd Supply, Google and Espressif, belong to their owners and are used only to describe where our products are sold or what they work with. HW DESIGNS is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

5. No guarantees and our responsibility

  • Our websites and services are provided “as is”. We aim to keep them running but cannot promise they will never be interrupted.
  • To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a product or service is limited to the price you paid for that product.
  • Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

6. Review Tap Sign

These terms cover the HW DESIGNS Review Tap Sign and the free web service at hwdesigns.us that makes each sign work. By activating a sign you agree to them.

6.1 What you get

  • Each sign has its own code and link (hwdesigns.us/r/CODE) in its NFC chip and QR code.
  • When someone taps or scans the sign, our service sends them to the page you chose — usually your Google review page, or another link such as Yelp, Facebook or your website.
  • You can change where the sign points at any time at hwdesigns.us/manage.
  • There is no app, no account password, and no subscription or monthly fee.

6.2 Activating and owning a sign

  • The first person to activate a sign with their email address becomes its owner. Keep access to that email — it is how you manage the sign.
  • To transfer a sign to someone else (for example, if you sell your business), email support@hwdesigns.us from the owner's email.
  • Keep your sign's code private until you activate it.

6.3 Fair use

You agree to point your sign only to pages for your own business (or one you are allowed to represent), and not to:

  • link to anything illegal, misleading, harmful (such as malware or phishing) or adult content;
  • ask only happy customers for reviews ("review gating"), or offer money, discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews;
  • break the rules of the review site you link to, or the Federal Trade Commission's rules on consumer reviews.

We may switch off or reset a sign that breaks these rules. We will email the owner when we do.

6.4 Not affiliated with Google

HW DESIGNS is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Yelp, Facebook or any other review site. Their names are used only to describe where a sign can point. Business search results are powered by Google.

6.5 How long the service runs

  • The redirect service is free and has no planned end date.
  • If we ever have to stop it, we will email every sign owner at least 90 days before, so there is time to plan.
  • We may occasionally update or pause the service for maintenance. We aim to keep it running around the clock but cannot promise it will never be interrupted.

6.6 No guarantees

  • We can't promise any number of reviews or any result on a review site.
  • Metal surfaces and phone cases can weaken the tap; the QR code works either way.
  • The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about the sign or the service is limited to the price you paid for the sign.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will email Review Tap Sign owners before it takes effect.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States.
